$148.80 BOOK NOW
Tour does not enter Haleakala National Park. Due to the new commercial vehicle codes January 1st 2018. Maui Mountain Cruisers takes you to the Park Entrance at 6500 feet where you will watch the sunrise and begin your guided bike tour down the slopes of Haleakala.
The Sunrise bike tour is the signature Maui bike ride for Maui Mountain Cruisers. Imagine the total darkness of night; then a sliver of light to the east transforming the sky into a brilliant array of orange, yellow and red spread across the mountain. Only Mother Nature can provide such a spectacular dawn of a new day. With its silent beauty, sunrise on Haleakala ushers in the dawn and the beginning of your adventure of a lifetime. After the sun rises your bike tour begins at the park entrance. Once your group begins biking down the mountain, it’s all downhill with very little pedaling. Your journey down Haleakala will take you through the rolling hills of Upcountry passing through the historical cowboy town of Makawao eventually ending in Paia. 38 miles of biking down a volcano.
Don’t feel like waking up at 2:00am to see the sunrise from Haleakala? This Maui Mountain Cruisers Day Bike Ride allows you to sleep in and still see the volcano and enjoy the bike ride down the volcano. Maui Mountain Cruisers Day Bike Ride will take you on a thrilling adventure riding a bike from Haleakala to the sea on the scenic this day tour. Maui Mountain Cruisers take you on a Maui adventure biking down Haleakala towards the sea on this scenic Maui bike ride with their day tour. It’s the same basic tour as the sunrise, minus the sunrise. Your Maui bike tour usually begins about with a morning hotel pick-up and ride up to Haleakala National Park entrance. You’ll begin your bike down the volcano around 7,000′ with crystal clear views of the coast far below. You’ll wind through the rolling hills of Upcountry Maui, passing through the historical town of Makawao with its colorful storefronts where time seems to stand still. As your journey continues, you’ll ride down Baldwin Avenue to Paia. Both sides of the road are a testament to the decline of the agriculture industry on Maui with fallow fields of sugar cane lining the road. The views are staggering, peaceful and alluring.
Mountain Cruises also provides all the gear including helmets, gloves and Gortex fleece rain suit.
Maui Mountain Cruisers uses Workman and Schwinn cruiser style bicycles. They are designed for a comfortable riding experience with the big fat wide seats. The braking system uses “Ultra brakes” that are hand operated. They are like the hydraulic brakes in your car. From time to time we get questions regarding the guidelines the bike companies have in place as policies. In many cases children under 12 years old are better at riding a bike than their parents. It’s the insurance company that underwrites the policy for the bike company that sets the policies, not the bike company.

Bill was an awesome informative guide but bikes weren't well maintained, as per others who did the group tour and had a flat tire. I highly suggest doing the self guided and be aware you are NOT inside the national park summit for sunrise with this package.
East to miss at 4am also when driving but cell number was answered on info 1st try
We went on the mid day tour with the guides that were born and raised in Hawaii. It was an awesome experience down the mountain with a stop in a old cowboy town for lunch. The views were very pretty and the ride was fun! The guides were knowledgeable about the history of the area. I recommend using this company!
NOT A SUNRISE TOUR!!! Wish I could give negative stars.
They drop you off about halfway to the top on the west side of the mountain so you will see no part of the sunrise. The rickety bikes were NOT SAFE. Squeaky warped wheels and iffy brakes. My back end got loose a couple times going not very fast. The “breakfast” was granola bars in a bowl and use of a keurig coffee maker in a shack that I was only shown when I asked about it.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! What a rip off...
Keep your expectations low, you'll have fun. No sunrise view, on a sunrise your was disappointing.
The tour itself wasn't bad but my husband's bike was so old that he crashed due to a blown tire... Not a good sign as far as safe equipment.
