The Grand Wailea Luau is a thoughtful presentation of the legends of Maui. The mermaid of Maui, Karnataka, swooned near the surfers and tried to capture them for fun. The dance of Naulu is a love story – the goddess of the clouds could only visit her lover Kanaloa in the uplands that embraced the clouds of Ulupalakua. These stories of ancient Hawaii create an exciting evening of traditional chant and hula that bring the history of Maui to life. Enjoy an evening of magical enchantment at Honua’ula and discover the culture, history, and legends Hawaii. The Honua’ula Luau begins this fun-filled evening with ancient Hawaiian games and crafts from local artisans, a photo opportunity, and the Imu Ceremony. As the sun sets, the magic of Maui comes alive with the dances that portray the legends, myths, and stories of ancient Hawaii. With colorful costumes, the beat of the Pau Drum, your evening journeys to the past. The Grand Wailea Luau is a presentation of the history of Maui. The only dance not associated with the island of Maui is the Samoan fire knife dance. All the other dances tell the story of Maui.
The show moves through the demi-god Maui with the creation of Maui and spiritually of Haleakala. The Grand Wailea Luau includes aerials to the right of the stage. Since Ulalena came to Maui, everyone believes aerials are the in thing. Well, that’s okay as a little magic in a luau is wonderful. And Maui is filled with magic.
When the Honua’ula Luau was at the Wailea Marriott it was considered the best luau on the south side. The luau earned many awards for their show. The tradition continues at the Grand Wailea as the Honua’ula Luau has redesigned the show with a fresh look.
These are the best seats. The stage is rather low to the ground, so to ensure the best viewing of the show, premium seating is the best selection. As with the standard seating the tables extended beyond the sides of the stage so you should arrive early to get the best seats.

Beautiful and Entertaining! They did a variety of dances, you learn about the Hawaiiam culture you can participate and learn to hula. Everyone is friendly...totally recommend upgrading to get closer to the stage also getting a real flower lei is super special. Food is fantastic wish I never got full so I could enjoy more of it. Beautiful setting when the sun sets too. I love Hawaii!
Half of the party loved it, half thought it was incredibly cheezy. They do have decent food and an open bar. They do have good hula dancers, but the contemporary stuff is "love it or hate it". They have silk aerial dancing, parachute dancing, and sailors dancing... The venue itself is amazing, but the experience is that of a giant Luau with 700 people.
This place is beautiful, way better than expected. The pictures don’t do it justice. They have water slides from the top of the pools all the way down and the only water elevator in the world. We stayed here for a week and the food was expensive so we at down the street for a fraction of the price about 20-30 minutes. Nice little town with just about everything you need groceries stores to drug store and shopping. Can’t wait to come back for another trip of a life time.
Our group of four attended the luau this past weekend on the last night of our Maui vacation. This was a great way to end it and all had a wonderful time. Food was plentiful and no one walked away hungry. We had a nut allergy in our group and when I mentioned this while making the reservation I was directed to speak with someone in their culinary dept. We did so and they arranged to have a separate meal prepared as to avoid any potential cross contamination at the buffet. Wonderful service!
This was one of the coolest experiences me and my family have ever had. The show was a lot of fun, the food was incredible!! You feel like a star with first class treatment. A must do!!
