Expeditions Ferry – Lanai Roundtrip Tickets
$60.00 BOOK NOW
Expeditions is the only Lanai ferry service between Maui and Lanai. This is a basic service that offers no transportation once you arrive on Lanai. However, Lanai features a trolley system that is compatible with the arrival and departure times of Expeditions. An all-day trolley pass runs about $10.00. You can purchase the pass at Lahaina Harbor when checking in for the ferry.
Once you arrive on Lanai you can explore Hulopoe beach (The same beach that Trilogy uses) for a fraction of the cost. Have lunch at the Four Seasons or take the trolley into Lanai City. Here you will find a quaint plantation town that is a memory of “Old Hawaii”. Laid back and slow. A little further up the road is the Lodge at Keole and the natural beauty of upcountry Lanai. The Lanai Ferry also provides service to the two world-class golf courses on the island.
From sunny white sand beaches to the mist covered forest of Keole, you will discover paradise on Lanai.
The Private Island:
Lanai also called The Pineapple Island is privately owned. The newest owner is Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle. Since he purchased the island in 2012, the improvements are moving ahead at a rapid rate. These include the harbor, roadways, hotels, golf courses and just about everything else. One of the major goals of the improvements on Lanai is keeping its rural lifestyle. Lanai is private and the locals are intent on keeping that way.

A very well run service company to cross between Maui and Lanai. Everything goes in order when everything is in order.
Sometimes the boat's late. Our return boat was 30 min late which caused is miss our next itinerary.
If it's weather related there's nothing anyone can do because the weather doesn't listen to anybody. So that's that. But our delay had to do with people taking forever unloading their luggages. That's people's fault.
Smooth and timely ride, seeing more whales than we could count. Excellent docking on both sides, friendly and helpful crew. Aaaaand...Lanai is gorgeous and people there are super friendly and welcoming.
It was cool. We saw a small family of dolphins from the boat, they did some little jumps for us and it was super awesome. When we went snorkeling, there were a ton of fish. The less you move around, the closer the fish will come. I only saw 1 turtle and it's a miracle our group didn't traumatize the little guy. The captain was nice and so were the staff members. The photographer was extra chill and super fun. If you wear a rash-guard snorkeling, make sure it stays down. Mine kept floating up on me without me realizing it, and I got a pretty bad sunburn.
You can park nearby behind the Warf Cinema, in Waine'e street. Just $5 for the day if you show your ferry ticket. If you arrive early and there is no attendant, just leave your car there, it'll be open.
We took the first ferry from Maui, it was great, very calm and left on time. Great experience. I bought the tickets online then picked them up on the booth (not really required when I went on January, the ferry was huge and empty).
There was a shuttle when arriving to Lanai, so easy to get to the city for $10.
But then, we came back on the last ferry. That was very scary because of the rough sea. Everyone was feeling sick, and multiple times people were screaming because of how the ferry jumped in the waves. At one point the ferry landed partially on its side which was very scary. The ride took closer to an hour on the way back.
Good way to travel between Maui and Lanai, just make sure you're ok with a very wild ride.
Awesome experience! Expeditions Maui-Lanai Ferry staff was amazing and made my 5th Friday trip over from Maui great.
