Four Winds Snorkeling – Afternoon Coral Gardens Snorkel
Coral Gardens is protected along the Pali Coast with high cliffs that make for calm waters and a very soft breeze. The area is teeming with marine life and colorful coral formations. Of course, all the snorkeling gear, floatation devices, and even a snorkel instruction are available.
The Four Winds Snorkeling is the most popular Coral Gardens snorkel trip for families. Its glass bottom viewing room, water slide, and size make it the perfect choice. Besides, the afternoon departure from Maalaea Harbor makes it a desirable option for those that don’t want to get up early for the morning snorkel. Coral Gardens is protected from the tradewinds and rough seas by the Pali Cliffs which makes it the ideal location to snorkel in Maui in the afternoon. The name comes from the extensive reef formations that spread out before the walls of the Pali. Vibrant and teeming with thousands of species of fish, Coral Gardens certainly lives up to its name.
During the whale watching season from December 15th through April 15th the Four Winds Snorkeling will shorten the snorkel time to provide a whale watching experience for their guests. This has proved to be a hit. The combination of a snorkel whale watch fits perfectly into their plans of whale watching and snorkeling. The best part about it is it only involves one boat ride and one price. Although whale watches are a dime a dozen and cheap compared to snorkel trips, the Four Winds combinations reduces the overall price you pay and the time you spend on a boat. With whale watches being constantly crowded, an afternoon snorkel trip in the whale watching season allows you to enjoy two Maui activities for the price of one. Got to like that!
Four Winds provides everything but a towel. While motoring out to Coral Gardens a snorkel 101 is offered in the large shaded main cabin. The charter features a water slide, 2 restrooms, fresh water shower and 3 access point to the water.
Customer service is the hallmark of the Four Winds. Its exceptional! Reviews on snorkel charters can at times be critical, yet the Four Winds has garnered so many positive reviews that other charter companies wish they were as fortunate.
The idea behind Snuba is to provide a diving experience without all the rules and regulations that apply to scuba diving. This is how it works.
Instead of having a oxygen tank strapped to your back, it’s placed on an inflatable raft. A 15’ to 20’ line is attached to the tank complete with a regulator. Weights are added to the Snuba’er to keep you underwater. Then you can swim around like a fish, staying underwater for about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how you breathe.
A dive master accompanies groups of four. He watches over you, making sure you have the time of your life without any problems. A little unknown rule regarding Snuba is that for every tank of Snuba that the charter boat books, they must reduce their guest count by one. The theory behind this is that each tank represents the space one passenger would occupy. Enacting this rule, made the charter more comfortable for the guests as the tanks can take up lots of room.
Snuba must be booked when you make your reservation. Seldom are there any extra tanks.

Had an amazing time with my family taking in the amazing views and marine life. Took the afternoon tour to Molokini and had almost the whole place to ourselves. Affordable lunch add on and free beer to boot!
Was the most enjoyable excursion of my trip to Maui. The staff was fun and friendly. The complimentary breakfast, lunch, and beverages were great. All basic gear was included. Cameras, camera lens filters and SNUBA were available for additional charges. Will definitely use them again if I ever make back to Maui.
Excellent crew and very nice onboard facilities.
