West Maui Parasail offers the ultimate experience in parasailing on Maui. Departing from either Lahaina Harbor or from Kaanapali Beach, you’ll get high soaring above the ocean. Please note that parasailing is a seasonal activity. Due to the arrival of the Humpback Whales in the winter, parasailing is not allowed from December 16th through May 15th. Parasailing is a very relaxing thing to do. It’s a quiet time to marvel at the sights of Hawaii from the sky and listen to the wind catch the parasail as the boat pulls you through the sky. It really gives you a moment to appreciate nature’s bounty.

West Maui Parasail is the longest running parasailing company on Maui. The state of Hawaii has never issued very many permits for Maui parasailing. There are only six permits. This is the primary reason parasailing books up so fast, besides the fact that the boats are small allowing for 6 to 12 guests per tour time depending on the boat.

Flying Styles:
There are 2 different flying styles to choose from.

Single is flying be yourself. You have to weigh at least 130 pounds to parasail as a single.

Tandem is flying with a partner or two. Perfect for families with children. Flying tandem is much more entertaining than flying single. You have someone to marvel the experience with, so it’s not lonely.

800’ Line:
The eight-hundred-foot line takes you up about 50 stories. It’s the length of the line, not the height. The line angles up, so it’s not a vertical thing. Still, that’s quite high above the Pacific Ocean.

1200’ line:
The twelve-hundred-foot line takes you above the waters of West Maui about 80 stories, maybe a little higher. The line angles out rather than a vertical height. Things look pretty small from that far above the ocean.

How it Works:
No experience necessary. Once you board the parasailing boat, each guest is put in the harness assembly. There is a platform on the back of the boat that acts as a rear deck. The crew will assist you to the platform and sit you down in the center. They attach the harness assembly to the stell cable and power up the boat releasing the winch at the same time. The parasail catches the wind and up you go. The landing is as simple as the take-off. Once the ride is nearing its end, the crew winches you back to the boat. As you approach the boat, the captain may elect to dip you in the water. It’s almost like dipping a tea bag in a cup. Then they pull you back up and land you on the boat exactly where you started from.

Tip of the Day:
Wear something you won’t mind getting wet.
You can request photos be taken. It’s an extra fee, but having the crew take the photos is priceless as they capture the best moments of you.
Once you’re flying style has been selected, it cannot be changed when checking in. The time allowed for the boat is tied to the flying styles.

Food:
There is no food with this tour.

Restrictions:
No children under age 6 allowed on the boat
No expecting mothers
Minimum weigh 130lb to ride single
Maximum weight for tandem or triple 450lb
The minimum age for parasailing is 7 years old
No observers

By far the best parasailing adventure yet.. The boat captain Matt was excellent and the music he chose was great... will definitely sail with them again when we return to Maui.. The land crew was also fabulous... we were treated so well by the entire staff just like we were family.. thank you everyone for making my husband and daughters sailing adventure together one they will not forget. They will wear your shirts proudly.. Aloha

What a view! A great way to see the island. Both my 10 year old & 8 year old loved it. They felt safe & thoroughly enjoyed the flight. Great memory for the whole family!

Parasailing was cool, we went with a group of 8 other people. We really enjoyed the captains on the boat with their humor and experience. Probably the highlight of this excursion was on the way back there was pod of dolphins. With us being the last trip of the day we were able to hang out and watch them for a little bit.

We were boarded. Ready to go. Then the winds hit. They disembarked us and said we are on standby til winds calm. Communication was very good. And it was a good call to eventually cancel. Winds became ferocious in half an hour. They had our safety interests first.
