The Maui Sunriders Haleakala Express Tour is an unguided Bike the Volcano tour. This tour does not go into the National Park, rather it starts you at approximately 7,000 feet on the side of Haleakala volcano.  Your ride begins at the staging area just outside the park entrance. This Maui Sunriders Haleakala Express tour is for those who wish to experience a bike ride down Haleakala without a tour guide and have no desire to see the crater. It’s the perfect open-air upcountry tour through lavender fields, ranches, and small towns like Makawao. The Maui Sunriders Haleakala Express tour is a great value as some of the sunrise tours can be as much as $150 per person. You’ll meet at Maui Sunriders bike shop in Paia on the north shore. You can ride 28 miles downhill to Paia from the park entrance. Stop where you like for however long you desire. Explore the Lavender Farm in Kula or shop in Makawao. There are several places along the way to have lunch, or you can wait until you reach Paia. There are photo opportunities at almost every turn in the road with sweeping vista of the slopes of Haleakala or the coast below.

Maui Sunriders provides Trek mountain bikes, Bell downhill helmets, Columbia rain & wind gear, gloves and a backpack which includes a lock and weather proof road map with road safety rules.

FUN! FUN! FUN! Do this if you like some adventure. My husband and I ride motorcycles, so speeding down a volcano on mountain bikes was exactly what we wanted to do. The trip up was nice, I suggest sitting in the front if you get car sick. We stopped in the little town just before the rodeo and had some great Italian Food! They teach you everything you need to know and prep you for a great time!

Favorite thing to do on Maui! Nothing more adventurous and exhilarating than biking down the side of a volcano on an island with views of the ocean. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and Expressed a big emphasis on safety. The equipment was clean and looked well taken care of. The last thing I want to do on vacation is wake up at 2am to see a sunrise, especially if it isn't always a guarantee and can be crowded. I am happy I was able to wake up at a normal time meeting at 9 to start the tour. We got to enjoy the beautiful downhill sharing the road at our own pace. I enjoyed being able to stop when and where I wanted. This Ride is super fun and I highly recommend!

Definitely one of the best things to do in Maui. They give you everything including a bag, raincoat, helmet and locks. Great way to see Maui and a great thing to do off the cruise ships. Also great with kids, but make sure they can ride a bike. ;)

Our first trip to Maui and every time we visited or had company, we highly recommend "Maui Sunriders" at 71 Baldwin Ave. Biking at your own pace, stopping to take pix & snack. Best Biking Co. on Maui! Mahalo Paulo
