The ride down was very easy and there were many interesting places to stop at. The only downside for me was that the bikes provided do not allow you to go much elsewhere than the indicated route since they were fixies geared at the lowest possible setting. I think next time I will also rent a bike to cruise along the rest of the countryside. Really fun way to discover all there is to see! It would also be fun to combine this tour with a mini hike of the crater or the summit of Mount Haleakala. Thanks for providing an alternative to driving guys!

This is a must if you are on Maui! Our group of 4 did a self-guided bike ride down Haleakala crater and had an absolute blast. Our driver Remy was hilarious, experienced and provided a lot of great tips and safety pointers that made us all feel really comfortable biking down. You are provided with a great Bike (Fixed gear, not much uphill), full face helmet, rain gear (pants and jacket), gloves, bike lock, backpack and map, plus probably some other stuff that I forgot. Overall, a great experience, I would highly recommend this and would absolutely book this again with Maui Sunriders.Only slight downside is that you don't get to go all the way into the National Park, so you don't get to see the Crater on the tour that I did. But, that was really clearly indicated on the website so I wasn't too disappointed, I knew what I was signing up for.

Great experience! My wife and I rented brand-new road bikes from Maui Sunriders. Since we weren't in tip-top cycling condition, the co-owner, Crystal, recommended we take their guided van tour up to Haleakala National Park entrance at 6,500' elevation and then jump on our bikes for the ascent to the top at 10,000'. Thanks to her great advice, we got to experience an epic ride climbing the many switchbacks through the otherworldly volcanic terrain. The views were spectacular. But make sure to check the weather conditions, since high winds can make the ride into a truly scary adventure. We highly recommend this company for quality equipment, knowledgeable advice, and friendly service.

Adam had a lot of good information about the area along the way up.It's fun to take those sharp curves at the top on a gorgeous, dry and sunny morning with no traffic. Fixed gear was perfect for the ride, only needed to start moving, and the couple of little hills.Also, really surprised how relaxed everything was. No guide pushing or pulling, just whatever pace you like. I'm sure I'll do this again with same company!

The tour started off right with the ride up. Adam, our guide was very informative with facts about Hawaii. He kept us entertained with stories and answered any questions we had. He also gave us some tips and advice on places and things to check out on our ride. The view once we got to the top was amazing and it never stopped. The entire way down was beautiful. We stopped at local fruit stands, a restaurant, said hi to the friendly horses, and did this all at our own pace. We were lucky enough to have Jeff and Crystal with us for the day. They made sure we were safe, comfortable at moving at our own pace and gave us so much information about the island. We will 100% be back!

Thank you Maui Sunriders for this amazing experience. We had the time of our lives. My boyfriend and I are avid bike riders in the city we live in and we had no problem going down a mountain. Though it was fast at times the brakes on the bikes were perfectly in tune to help slow you down to your comfort level. Yes the helmets are big but they are super comfy and you feel a lot safer wearing it, trust me. We loved the ride up to our drop off point because we had an amazing guide that told us all about the area, the history and even the plants. We decided to stop at a few places along the way because why not if the weather is perfect? We went in December and the weather was cool in the morning and warm by the afternoon. I suggest clothing with a little stretch and layers. You can always throw them in the backpack they provide if you warm up. Again, the ride down was amazing and something I will never forget. I would 100% do this again.
