Maui Activities: Maui Ocean Activities, Maui Whale Watching
$169.99 BOOK NOW
Best Price GuaranteeLanai is as mysterious as it is visible from Maui. Few ever get the chance to explore the magnificent reefs that are vibrant, remote and teeming with more marine life than Molokini could ever boost. During the course of the day, your adventure will take you to a couple of the best snorkel sites on Lanai. From the shipwrecks and sea caves along the isolated north shore to the Marine Reserve at Manele Bay, Captain Steve’s Rafting will help you discover the best of Lanai. You will encounter the playful spinner dolphin, green sea turtles and hundreds of varieties of marine life on colorful reefs.
Besides the remote north shore and Manele Bay, one of our favorite snorkel spots on Lanai is Sweetheart Rock. Pinnacles towering up from the depths to suddenly stop just below the surface creating a reef plateau that is out of this world. Captain Steve’s Rafting is a small family owned and operated business. Since 1986 Captain Steve has been sharing the wonders of Lanai with visitors. Over the year’s thousands of visitors have experienced the incredible Aloha and knowledge shares with each guest. We are absolutely certain that your day of rafting Lanai with Capt. Steve will meet, and exceed all your expectations for trips of a lifetime.
Capt. Steve during the winter months will provide his guests with a whale watch. It’s thrilling to watch the whales from a raft as it’s a close-up and personal experience.
Unlike Maui, not much has changed on Lanai since the seventies. It’s still rural, and Maui tour operators need a special permit to bring guests on the island. The difficulty in flying to Lanai has also added to its lack of growth. Currently the owner is Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle. Mr. Ellison has been active in bringing the roads, harbor hotels, golf courses and general infrastructure up to par. The locals who call Lanai home have been pleased with the efforts and results. Life is a little easier nowadays. Lanai shall remain Old Hawaii.
The Cane Fire:
Captain Steve’s Rafting uses The Cane Fire for the charter, it is a rigid-hulled inflatable, originally designed for search & rescue by the US Coast Guard. The vessels are powered by twin 200hpr computerized smokeless engines that meet the new EPA standards. Like most rafts on Maui, the Cane Fire is 50% shaded with bench seating with backrests and pontoon seating on each side of the vessel. The raft is equipped with dual ladders with wide steps providing easy access to the water.
