Polynesian Adventure Tours is the largest provider of Sightseeing Tours on Maui. They have more tours on Maui than any competitor, by far. Polynesian Adventure Tours span all of Hawaii and have the most experience on the Road to Hana. One of the best things about the tour to Hana with a guided group is the lack of crowds. Even though you are with other people in your tour group, that is pretty much it. The points of interest along the highway that Polynesian Adventure Tours Road to Hana tour stops at are completely different than the ones the independent sightseer stops at. And they are usually the first ones there, so you’re off to the next spot when the area is becoming crowded. Keanae Peninsula is a particularly fascinating stop along the way. With its church steeple jutting up to the heavens, it’s the highest structure in town. The village is old and looks the same way it has for hundreds of years. Looking down at it from the overlook, it’s like a green hand that extends to the ocean, providing life, like it has always done for those who live there. For the most part the residence of Keanae farm taro and fish. Polynesian Adventure Tours Road to Hana tour will take you to many amazing places.
Cut off from the world of high tech, a cell phone usually doesn’t work on the Hana Highway, there are no hot spots for WIFI and the radio in a car receives only static. In many cases, convenience doesn’t exist. Well only if you’re a mainlander. For the people that call the Hana Highway home, it’s a Spartan life. Yet, it’s a life rich in family and things to do. Polynesian Adventure Tours does not stop at Waianapanapa State Park unless it’s by request then its time allowed. They do stop in Hana Town. Here you will get to see what time has forgotten. Or as the residences of Hana prefer to think as, “A simpler way of life”. Life in Hana hasn’t changed much in the last 30 years if it has changed at all. Life comes and goes as it always has, slowly.
In Hana Bay, there is a trail that leads from the only dock out to the point. It’s a nice little hike. At the end of the point is a small lighthouse that signals the entrance to Hana Bay. I have always found this little trail peaceful. The trail itself is well worn with a few ups and downs, but the end of the path lies the rough beauty that makes this part of the world so special. A place where time has little or no value.
Due to the remoteness of the area, many stars, celebrities, and wealthy people have built estates tucked away behind the walls of the rainforest looking to escape the world from time to time. We have always referred to Hana as the other side of nowhere because there is nothing there. Today, there is still nothing there. I suspect it will always remain so as the people who live there, do not want to catch up with the world, rather they would be left behind to the ruralness of life.
Take a day and join us for a tour of the Hana Highway with the most respected touring company in all of Hawaii. At the end of the day, you will be hooked on Maui for life!

We had the best day with Polynesian tour guide Cammie. She was delightful. We were picked up exactly in time at our hotel and the rest of the day fun filled stops along the Road to Hana. She was funny Expert driver and made us all so relaxed. She had high level of local culture. We would have never found that information on our own. Great breakfast and lunch included also organized well.
It was a great tour! Originally, we planned to drive it ourselves but I’m so glad we didn’t. The road is very narrow and curvy! By taking the tour, we both enjoyed the day. Plus, we’re still married. 😊
We stopped at several sights and they were beautiful. Our guide was friendly and funny. He took pictures for us and was very knowledgeable about the island.
I would definitely taking the Road to Hana tour.
This was my first time taking the tour to Hana including the full loop. I recommend taking a tour your first time to Hana so you know what to expect with this drive and the road conditions. This tour company was excellent and the plush van made it comfortable for a long 10-11 hour tour. Our tour specialist was awesome giving us great facts and stories along the trip. Lee was funny, professional, and cared about each tourist needs along the way. I highly recommend him and this tour company.
We had an overall good experience.
Booking agent was friendly and informative. The bus driver was exceptional friendly and knowledgeable. All other staff was friendly and helpful!! We encountered a bus delay for over an hour, the reason for it was not well communicated. It would have been helpful to know why the bus had been delayed.
Our guide (Michael?) was great and knew lots of facts about Haleakalā and the wildlife. Funny guy, too. The trip itself is very comfortable in a new, plush tour van. Hotel pickup and drop off is a great feature if you don’t have a rental car. The dinner was nice, but be aware that the ticket price doesn’t not include soft drinks. (Not terribly unreasonable, but assuming this tour company brings their sunset groups here all of the time, the restaurant could include the soft drinks.) Highly recommended tour of the crater and views of sunset! Dress warmly as the temps at the summit drop quickly.
