A Unique Luau Experience on Maui at the Grand Wailea Luau

Pele, the goddess of fire is described as one who came prior to the arrival of the Polynesians, paving the way with her lava so there would be land sufficient for the Hawaiians to live. Lilinoe, the goddess of the mist was said to linger above sending cool rains to nourish the lands. The mermaid of Maui, Kananaka, swooned near the surfers and tried to capture them for fun. The dance of Naulu is a love story – the goddess of the clouds could only visit her lover Kanaloa in the uplands that embraced the clouds of Ulupalakua. These stories of ancient Hawaii create an exciting evening of traditional chant and hula that bring the history of Maui to life. Enjoy an evening of magical enchantment at Honua’ula and discover the culture, history, and legends Hawaii.

This was a wonderful evening! We chose Premium seating and the only complaint we have regarding our Premium tickets is that there wasn't a separate entrance for Premium ticket holders. This led to a loooong wait in line when we really wanted to get in and start enjoying the fun. We believe the luau should add a separate entrance for those customers purchasing Premium tickets. However, still worth it from the wonderful food to the humorous and fun show. Truly enjoyed ourselves and our children are still talking about it. They also accommodated those in our party with food allergy-related issues with special meals. It was a fun night all around!

Wonderful evening, enjoyed by all. We had 9 people in our group aged from 9 to 59 and all had a great time.
The line for registration and seating was long, but the staff explained things clearly and only one person from the group had to wait in line so the rest could enjoy the view.
All the free drinks were not watered down and our table service was excellent.
The show was world class. We recommend this to anyone.

I have nothing to compare this to, but we had so much fun! We got there around 3:30, walked the beautiful grounds for 15 minutes, and then went to line up to get our table assignment. We got the general seating and totally lucked out by getting the middle table in the first row of general seating- so amazing seats! Very worth getting there early.
The food wasn't anything to write home about, but we thought it was good! The teriyaki chicken was my favorite, and they had lots of different salads and sides to choose from. Great little dessert bar and yummy cocktails and coffee!
The show was great- it's told in a story-like way that was really cool. All in all, an awesome experience! Very glad we decided to do it. Biggest piece of advice- get there early to figure out where you're going and get in line quick. I think our seat made all the difference! Aloha!

Essentially a waste of money. If you’ve never been to a luau I guess it’s worth going to just to tell your family and friends you went. Me and my husband paid $110 EACH. For $220 we could have gone to a great restaurant with live music instead. The food was horrible. No flavor. Bad taste. Few options: three kinds of salad, Mac salad, fish, chicken, pork. Some bread. Dessert wasn’t good either. Drinks were okay but not worth that much money. Show was average. It is only the last 45 minutes of the three hour event. For paying $110 I expected not to be ripped off- they offered professional photos with the cast but you had to pay to get them...such a waste. Got some nice photos to show friends and family. That’s about it. My advice: Go on an excursion instead.

Great food and drinks. The show was good. The setting on the hotel property took away from the experience.
