The Humpback Whales visit Maui every winter and delight visitors to Hawaii with their presence. The first whales begin arriving in November and the last whales check out in early May. The Alii Nui Whale Watch presents an exceptional whale watching experience from Maalaea Harbor. If you are staying on the south side you should consider the Alii Nui Whale Watch for a Whale Watching tour. The Alii Nui Whale Watch is a custom-built luxury sailing catamaran designed for sailing in Maui. The catamaran is 65 feet long and 36 feet wide. There is a large main cabin with table seating, two restrooms and ample viewing room on either the back or front decks.

Humpback Whales cruise through the waters of all the islands in Hawaii. The main concentration of whales is between Maui, Lanai and Molokai. Here the waters are the warmest and protected from open ocean currents. Environmentalists have introduced and passed laws that require whale watching tours on Maui to stay at least 100 yards away from any whale they encounter during their tours. This law was passed to protect the whales from being struck and injured from tour boats. Every whale watching tour on Maui observes this rule. To provide the best Maui whale watches, the charter boat usually plots their course ahead of the whales, then cut their engines. This practice of heading the whale off at the pass, has produced some of the most exciting whale watches in Maui as in many cases the whales cruise by the boat, creating an exceptional whale watching experience.

Each year the research organizations on Maui count the Humpback Whales. Once seriously in jeopardy of becoming extinct, the population has increased quite a bit since they were added to the endangered species list. Today they thrive as a wonderful Maui attraction which boatloads of visitors enjoying their beauty, grace, and show. Humpback Whales are quite active. They breach the water, flap their tails, and demonstrate a variety of other behaviors that thrill visitors on Maui watch watching tours daily.

Today the Alii Nui is probably the best charter boat on Maui. There are several other activities that you can experience aboard the Alii Nui, such as Molokini Snorkeling, a sunset sail, and the Royal Feast Dinner Sail. We loved this experience from beginning to end. We swam with turtles!! The food was great and the drink selection was even better. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a wonderful time. ❤️☀️🏝🐋 The highlight was the whale that came right up to the boat and waved. Priceless...

Went on the Royal Sunset Cruise and had a great experience. The boat is a wonderful size with plenty of room on deck and in the cabin. The crew was phenomenal -- very attentive and thoughtful. The food and drink was very good and there was plenty to go around. We also saw a number of whales, which made it extra special!

I have no idea what this cost because I joined a corporate group with all expenses paid, but I can assure you it was worth whatever they paid! It was AMAZING. The staff treated us like royalty, the boat ride was beautiful and relaxing and the snorkeling was perfect. Highly recommend that you take this adventure! Thank you to the crew members for giving the Kawasaki group a great time.
