Tour does not enter Haleakala National Park. Due to the new commercial vehicle codes January 1st, 2018. Mountain Riders takes you to the Park Entrance at 6500 feet where you will begin your guided bike tour down the slopes of Haleakala.

This Mountain Riders Day Bike Tour lets you experience Haleakala and the thrill of downhill biking without the 2 am wake up call for sunrise tours.  Once you arrive at the park entrance of Haleakala, you will experience your first photo opportunity. Before the bike ride you will be expertly fitted to your bicycle and given a comprehensive safety briefing. Your bike down a volcano adventure begins here and will take you 28 miles down the slopes of Haleakala through Haleakala Ranch, the upcountry community of Kula where you will stop for a sit down “no host”(buy your own) lunch at the Kula Lavender Farm. Following lunch and a tour of the flower farm, you will continue your Maui bike tour into the historical town of Makawao and through Pukalani, coasting by pineapple and sugar cane fields to Pai’a and the ocean.

There isn’t much of a difference between the sunrise tours and the Mountain Riders Day Bike Tour. Besides getting out of bed in the middle of the night, there is no sunrise. Which means you get to sleep in.

After you are picked up, you will enjoy a continental breakfast stop consisting of hot coffee, juice and pastries at the base yard of Mountain Riders and given a comprehensive safety briefing. On the way, up to the park entrance of Haleakala your driver will share some of the history of Upcountry Maui.

Your Mountain Riders Day Bike Tour begins at the park entrance and will take you 28 miles down the slopes of Haleakala through Haleakala ranch, the upcountry community of Kula where you will stop for a sit down “no host”(buy your own) lunch at the Kula Lavender Farm. You’ll really enjoy this Maui activity.

Excellent experience! Our guides Alika and Rob were phenomenal. Alika was VERY knowlegable, friendly, and warm. Our driver Rob was also very knowledgeable and kept us safe. Our family of 6 likes to joke around and Alika kept us entertained the entire time. The breakfast stop in the little town was cute and delicious! The homemade donuts are amazing. So great to have Maui born and raised guides deliver such an awesome experience. My brother who lives on the big island exchanged numbers with Alika to meet up with him! The only thing I recommend is to BRING GLOVES!!! Also dress in layers because the beginning of the trip is cool! We did the Haleakala Sunrise Tour.

Do NOT go on a bike tour! Easily the most dangerous activity on Maui. I always see people loose control and crash off the road. There is a high probability that you will hit a guardrail or a rock and go over the handle bars. Its great if you like broken bones or to smash your teeth out. Good luck!

Excellent tour on Apr 20th... Tamra (our safety driver) and Alika (guide) where fabulous, and the views spectacular.

Please note. This is a 26 mile downhill biking excursion down the side of a volcano from 6500ft to sea level... it is not geared towards the very young or those who are not at least halfway competant on a bike.

The speed of the bikes is pretty high and the terrain is fast, winding and might be a challenge for some (especially at the top).

100% would go again!

What a great ride. The panoramic views were breath taking. Although the downhill ride was initially intimidating, the guide made sure we were all safe and comfortable.

We had Everett, Nani, and Bobby. Couldn't have asked for a better crew to guide us through the experience. We got picked up at 230am which seemed insane at the time but getting up there early snags you the best seat on the volcano. The sunrise is breath taking. The picture doesn't do it justice. Dress warm as it's cold up there and strip off the layers as you descend later. The ride down the hill is alot faster than I expected. Remember to lean into the curves instead of turning the handlebars. It had been awhile since I had been on a bike but once I got used to it I felt like I was flying. Glad I brought my gopro as the helmets they supply already have mounts on them. Would absolutely do it again if I could have the same crew and bikes.
